Colombian cyclist Oscar Pachon won the UCI Tour of Tobago 120km event as Team Coco’s snatched three of the top five spots when the Tobago International Cycling Classic concluded in Tobago, yesterday.

Also finishing in the top five for Team Coco’s were Colombian Carlos Ospina and Barbadian Darren Matthews in a race which started and ended in Esplanade, Scarborough.

The riders pedalled through Shirvan Road, Plymouth, Northside Road, Castara, Charlotteville, Speyside, Roxborough, Belmont Road and Claude Noel Highway.

Felix Cruz (Team Foundation) of Dominican Republic finished second, while French rider Thibault Jeannes (PSL/Well Services Petroleum Co) ended in fourth position.

Pachon was happy with his victory, saying it was a great win on a beautiful island. He thanked everyone who helped him get the win yesterday.

He added that it was a challenging race and he had to remain attentive throughout the race.

The event chairman and promoter Jeff Charles was satisfied how the four stages and the Tour of Tobago unfolded.

Charles said: “It was a very good event, alot better than previous years.” Charles stated they experienced some rainy weather in Tobago but the Classic ended incident free.

Many of the cyclists who participated in the Tobago International Cycling Classic will travel to Trinidad to compete in the Beacon Cycling on the Avenue 3 event which pedals off at 7.30 pm tomorrow on Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook, Port-of-Spain.
